9th Grade Language Arts Support Course Description

This course is designed to teach works of literature connected by a common theme within each unit. Students will be prepared for a more advanced style of writing, analysis and comprehension; they will be introduced to and engage in various writing activities that explore a myriad of genres. Lessons in grammar usage, literature, and vocabulary combine the critical areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar.  A strong emphasis will be placed on comprehension and writing skills. The primary goal of 9th Grade Language Arts Support is to encourage students to become more effective language users, while integrating writing and higher order thinking skills.
