Listed below are the main instructional platforms that will be used for Virtual Learning in the MILD/MOID
classroom for the 2020-2021 school year. The information provided will assist with access credentials to navigate
the various platforms.
The main platforms for Virtual Learning in the resource classroom will be VERGE, Google Classroom, Zoom and
Microsoft Teams. Google Classroom will be used for daily communication of learning assignments and
teacher/student feedback. Zoom will be used for LIVE IEP meetings and conferences.

DCSD Launchpad
How do I log into Launchpad from a Personal Device to Access Verge and Microsoft Teams?
Method 1 ( Personal Device):
1. Go to the following URL: students.dekalbschoolsga.org
2. Click on the words Login with Active Directory
3. Username is your DCSD issued student number
4. Password (Grades 6 – 12): Students in grade 6 – 12 must log into a DCSD student
computer to set their password. The default password is dekalb00. The student will be
prompted to change password which will take about 15 minutes to communicate to the
appropriate systems.
5. Click Sign IN
6. The LAUNCHPAD portal screen should appear.
7. Locate and Click on the VERGE icon
Method 2 (Personal Device):
1. Go to the dekalbschoolsga.org website
2. Scroll down the home to locate the LAUNCHPAD ICON
3. Click on the icon and you are now logged in to access resources
4. Locate and Click on the VERGE Icon
Method 3 (Chromebook - School Issued Device):
1. Locate LAUNCHPAD Icon on your Desktop
2. Click on the Icon and you are now logged in to access resources
3. Locate and Click on the Verge Icon

Instructions for using the Unique Learning System
Step I:
Type the following into your web browser http://www.n2y.com/unique-learning-system/
Step 2:
Click on student sign in
Step 3:
Click on Student Icon
**There will be a teacher Icon and a student Icon, select the student Icon.
Step 4:
At the Welcome screen enter the User ID and password given out by the teacher.
Step 5:
All student specific activities will populate. Complete all activity one assignment(s) before
moving on to the next.
Step 6:
To move from page to page click the left or right arrow.
Step 7:
Click on the top left hand corner on the N2Y earth icon to log out or return to home page for
the activities. This menu also gives you other options such as print.
Instructions for using Brainpop and Brainpopjr
Step I: For Brainpop type the following into your web browser https://www.brainpop.com/

Step 3: For Brainpop type in the following credentials:

Step 4: Follow teacher instructions on where to go from there
Instructions for using News 2 You
Step 1: Go to N2Y.com
Step 2: There will be two icons. Select the student icon.
Step 3: (Teacher has established a username and password).
Enter your username and password.
Step 4: Students may be taken directly into a lesson or they may be able to select from a
choice of pre-selected skills. This minimizes the chance of inappropriateness when selecting an
activity. All of the lessons have been configured by the teacher.

Step 5: Fun and learning!
Instructions for using YOUTUBE
Step 1: Go to Youtube.com
Step 2: Go to the search bar at the top of the page.
Step 3: Place the subject matter into the search bar.
Step 4: Click the magnifier at the end of the search bar.
Step 5: Click the desired subject matter.
Instructions for using Google Classroom
1. Go to classroom.google.com. If it is your first login, be sure to select your role as Student
(see previous page).
2. Click the + on the top right of the page to Join Class.
3. Enter the Class Code given to you by your teacher, and click Join.
*You will receive further instructions for daily classroom activities.
Instructions for Zoom
1. Click on the meeting link your teacher sends or posts.
2. If no link is available, go to https://www.zoom.us
3. Click Join a Meeting.
4. Type the Meeting ID

5. Type Passcode
6. On the new screen, type the meeting password in the top box.
7. Type your name in the lower box.
8. Click Join. (You may have to wait on the meeting host to allow you access to the
meeting.)
**On the new screen, make sure your Mic is turned off before entering the
meeting space.

1. Go to https://www.cnn.com/cnn10
2. Notice the current event as the lead story.
3. Click the picture to watch the daily news.
