A Little Bit About Me

Hi everyone! I am so excited about the upcoming school year. I know that learning in a virtual environment can be challenging, but I'm sure that my students and I can rise to the technological challenges in creative and innovative ways.

This is my fifth year at Miller Grove High School, but I started teaching 23 years ago in Florida. After 9 years as a Florida educator, I relocated to Brooklyn, New York and spent 9 wonderful years in one of the most diverse cities in the country. Being here in Georgia, though, has been an incredible experience, and joining the Miller Grove family only enhanced that experience.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a Master's in Education, and a Master's in English/Creative Writing. I love to read and write, hence that English background.

I believe in two fundamental truths. The first comes from the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." I believe that we must always stand up for what is right, even if we are standing alone.

My other fundamental truth comes from Maya Angelou: "If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform one million realities." This quote speaks to the writer in me. I believe that there are some stories that are so transformative that they change how one sees the world.

And so begins another school year!
